Saddle bridges, also known as Ichiyama, secure glasses by resting the curved bridge itself on the nose. While simple in construction, their flexible adjustment was challenging, so they largely disappeared after the common nose pads (cling pads) emerged in the 1930s.
This work modernizes the Ichiyama. By adopting a newly developed part called the "changeable saddle bridge," it is now possible to adjust the size according to the wearer.
The lenses have a rounded oval shape. Coupled with the bridge positioned slightly lower than usual, there's a somewhat charming atmosphere, giving it a fresh impression that differs from familiar ovals. Other details also feature subtle design changes such as indentations and rounded edges.
As both eyewear and fashion, it's innovative and, above all, finished to an extremely high standard, making it easy to agree with the designer's assessment of its excellent quality.
This is an Ichiyama that can truly be worn properly, something that has arguably never existed in the industry before.
