10 eyevan No.1 III BR

10 eyevan, born from 10 special parts, initially launched with a metal collection. However, the celluloid collection was added to the lineup when deadstock fabric, worthy of the meticulously crafted parts, became available. This time, we'll be introducing the No.1 III BR.

Celluloid, now rarely seen, differs from the more commonly used acetate in eyeglasses. When you hold and wear it, you'll notice a smooth, almost adhering feel against the skin, a visibly luxurious and sleek sheen, and a distinctive "clack" sound when folding the temples, indicating its characteristic hard yet flexible material.

For this reason, it's a particularly favored material among eyewear enthusiasts, but its high flammability makes it difficult to handle. Currently, its use and storage are prohibited in most countries, further increasing its rarity.

Among such special materials, 10 eyevan's celluloid collection uses vintage deadstock and celluloid that has been aged for at least five years.

It's no exaggeration to say that for eyeglasses, the "tamagata" or lens shape is everything. The lens shape of these glasses is No.1, the first one created in the 10 eyevan collection. It's neither round nor square, neither Wellington nor Boston, but a shape that captivates you the more you look at it, and one that is particularly dear to the designer. At 10 eyevan, where products are only released if the balance between the lens shape and frame is truly beautiful, there are only two models that use this lens shape, including this one.

Combined with the special celluloid are the meticulously crafted parts that are the true essence of 10 eyevan. Similar to the metal collection, the temple ends feature Silver 925 tips that act as balancers. Titanium is used for the hinges due to its functionality, but the decorative rivets that secure the hinges to the frame are also made of Silver 925, which will gradually tarnish with use, developing a more aged and textured appearance.

At 10 eyevan, where purely decorative details are not adopted, these two parts also play important functional roles. Two rivets penetrate from the decorative studs to the back, and by crimping them, the hinges and the main frame body are securely fastened with sufficient strength. The tips at the temple ends, due to the specific gravity of Silver 925, shift the overall center of gravity of the glasses further back, contributing to improved wearing comfort.

Furthermore, these nose pads are special. 10 eyevan mainly uses shell pads made from white mother-of-pearl, black mother-of-pearl, or brown mother-of-pearl, but only this No.1 III uses Silver 925 nose pads. This decision can only be explained by the designer's sensibility, but the cool impression of metal, different from the luxurious and high-end feel of shell, creates a good contrast with the BR (bold rim) frame, which has the most volume in the celluloid collection.

The Silver 925 nose pads, like the temple ends and decorative rivets, have a calm and sharp impression compared to shell pads, providing a striking contrast to the ample roundness and weighty feel unique to the BR (bold rim).

10 eyevan, with its concept of "beautiful tools," incorporates a β-titanium core in the temples of its celluloid collection. While the theory for celluloid temples is often to use the "no-core" method without a metal core, for temples of this thickness, having a core is still better. The β-titanium core makes them more flexible and easier to adjust, leading to a personalized fit that celluloid alone cannot achieve.

Furthermore, the lens sizes are available in three options: 43, 45, and 47, providing a sufficient lineup for more people to wear them with the best possible fit.

The 10 eyevan celluloid collection was born from the combination of the finest parts and materials. Among them, the No.1 III BR, including its unique lens shape, has achieved a distinctive presence that, in a good way, transcends any specific era.
