Ref. 6605 Gilt
The Ref. 6605, the second generation of the Datejust.
This is an extremely rare Datejust, manufactured for only about three years, from 1956 to 1960.
It features a very finely grooved "coin edge" bezel, and its wedge-shaped indexes and alpha hands exude a highly classic atmosphere.
Among 6605 models, this one boasts an even rarer Gilt dial (mirror dial).
While white and silver colored dials are common, Gilt dials are almost never seen.
The gold lettering further enhances its vintage appeal.
Due to the radium luminous material, the dial tends to deteriorate easily, but this particular piece retains the luster characteristic of a mirror dial and is in very good condition for a 1950s watch.
The bracelet is a 1965 Swiss Jubilee.
A rare 1950s Datejust Gilt.
The combination of its luster and detailed components makes this a highly satisfying piece.
