1021 Sunglasses
72,600 JPY
This model uses the same construction as the 2025AW model -1012-, but with a square lens shape reminiscent of the "crab-eye" jigs used in factories. It's a rough and cheap-looking piece, like a vintage Hilton Classic or something from 70s Germany.
What's a surprisingly good mismatch with that aesthetic is the sharp and dynamic impression of the endpiece parts. Milled from a titanium block, they have the power and presence seen in 40s and 50s vintage pieces also handled by AFTER. Since they are sandblasted to avoid leaving cutting marks, even models with glossy frame colors have endpiece parts with a textured finish.
You can also feel the interesting three-dimensional depth, such as the bridge which looks pointed from above but not so much from the front, and the temples which draw an exquisite curve while varying in width.
The sunglass lenses are original "EYEVAN Curve Lenses" made from Japanese glass. They are produced by mixing metal particles and other materials to create the color, then melting and molding each lens individually.
