EYEVAN 7285 from 2025 S/S

EYEVAN 7285

EYEVAN 7285 for Spring/Summer 2025

The recent exhibition of EYEVAN 7285 and 10 eyevan, held at a certain location in Tokyo, showcased new collections that fully expressed the essence of each brand for the 2025 SPRING / SUMMER season.

This time, as a preview before the in-store delivery, we'll introduce the new models, incorporating insights gathered from the design team at the exhibition.

From EYEVAN 7285's collection, born from free-thinking ideas and advanced techniques to bring them to fruition, we've selected four pieces that are particularly significant to AFTER.

795

Released as a 2024 S/S model, the EYEVAN 7285 197 was exceptionally popular due to its contemporary appeal. Its popularity likely stems from the fact that the inherently universally flattering oval shape was elevated into a modern design through EYEVAN 7285's unique technical approach.

The 795 was designed with the image of a plastic version of the 197. It is neither nostalgic nor overly conscious of current trends. It represents a next-standard derived from classic styles, and for 7285, the oval shape is positioned as one of the staples following round and Boston frames.

The mitered metal hinges, made of nickel silver, were specially crafted for this model, integrating two milled parts through brazing. These are then embedded into the front, carefully polished until flush, and finally, a low-temperature plating process is applied only to the metal parts. The result is a finish characteristic of EYEVAN 7285, offering both sufficient strength and undeniable satisfaction.

Typically, teardrop frames have two bridges. By intentionally giving this model a single bridge, a finely balanced aviator frame was created that can be worn like a Boston type.

Designer Nakagawa personally favors this delicate balance, where the design is scaled down to a classic size that isn't too large, allowing it to be worn naturally. He was wearing this very model on the day of the exhibition.

This particular model, which took a considerable amount of time to finalize, is a niche within a niche that probably only EYEVAN 7285 could have pursued to such an extent, yet it is a piece we can recommend to anyone.

1008

This model is inspired by the extremely rare rim-wound "Parisien" style, a staple of French vintage eyewear. Its design shows high affinity with AFTER, which deals in vintage eyewear.

The comfortable size is similar to the original Parisien. Furthermore, by adopting a pin-held nylon rim, a technique exclusively handled by a single craftsman in Japan, the rim-winding is less likely to come off, and the finish is neat and clean.

The rim-winding material uses beautifully colored Italian acetate and extremely rare deadstock clear acetate. The clear version, in particular, combined with the simplicity of the pin-holding, is so precise that it almost looks like a metal frame rather than a rim-wound one.

This model is inspired by Patek Philippe's Calatrava, one of the products highly respected by the EYEVAN 7285 design team, a pinnacle of dress watches.

The lugs of the watch are sampled for the endpiece of the glasses, the bridge closely resembles the design of a buckle viewed from behind, and the edge of the dial is directly translated to the rim.

During the manufacturing process, to express the sharp atmosphere unique to Calatrava, a sharply angled rim wire with a corner radius of 0.1 was used, and the polishing time was strictly adjusted for each color to achieve the final finish.

EYEVAN 7285 is a collection that imposes no technical restrictions on its manufacturing process, combining traditional methods with new technologies to create designs based on free-thinking ideas unconstrained by the past.

While highly technical, the exquisite balance ensures that the eyewear itself doesn't overshadow the wearer. In a sense, it might be categorized as contemporary craftsmanship, distinct from mere ornaments or industrial products.

In addition to the four models introduced here, many other highly attractive models are arriving sequentially. Please come and see them in store.
